Membership terms

These terms explain how MapX Pet membership works. MapX Pet (operator of mapxpet.com and mapxpet.ca) runs the membership. By joining, you agree to these terms. We've kept them in plain language.

1. Signup status

Membership signup is coming soon and isn't open yet. Nothing can be bought or charged until it opens. These terms apply once you join.

2. Price and billing

• Membership costs C$3.99 a month plus applicable tax (GST/HST/QST, depending on your province).
• You're billed monthly through Stripe, our payment processor.
• Your membership renews automatically each month until you cancel.
• If we ever change the price, we'll tell you ahead of time, before it applies to your next renewal. You can cancel before then.

3. Cancelling and refunds

You can cancel anytime through the Manage membership link or the link in your Stripe receipt. You keep your benefits until the end of the month you've already paid for. We don't give refunds for partial months, except where the law requires it.

4. Founding members

Founding members are the first people to join during our founding period. The membership counter on our site stays hidden until we reach 6 members. Being a founding member doesn't come with special pricing or extra perks: you get the same membership as everyone else, and our thanks for being early.

5. What's included

• Every MapX Pet guide and recipe. This digital content is for your personal, non-commercial use. Please don't copy, resell or redistribute it.
• 10% off in the MapX Pet shop with your member code. The discount doesn't apply to taxes or shipping and can't be combined with other offers unless we say so. The shop is coming soon.
• Partner coupons. These come from independent partner businesses under their own terms, and offers may change or end. Partners are responsible for their own goods and services, and MapX Pet isn't responsible for them.
• Breeding board: members can post breeding listings and contact other owners through MapX Pet. Anyone can browse listings; posting and replying require an active membership. Breeding listings must follow the board's responsible-breeding rules, and we may remove listings that don't.
• Pet for sale board: anyone can browse pet-for-sale listings, including photos, descriptions and breed. Sellers' contact details and full listing details are for members, and posting a listing requires an active membership. Membership helps keep fake ads off the board. Sellers are responsible for following all local laws and bylaws on pet sales; some Ontario municipalities restrict where and how pets can be sold. MapX Pet doesn't take part in sales and doesn't guarantee any animal, seller or buyer, and we may remove any listing. You can cancel your membership anytime (see section 3).
• Your city, front and centre in the MapX Pet app, when the app launches. The app opens zoomed into your city, area or neighbourhood.
• Local event alerts in the app, when it launches: notifications about pet events in your area.
• Ad-free browsing on the mapxpet.com website, as a supporting extra.

App features may vary by device.

6. Your city and location

• You pick your preferred city at signup, and you can change it anytime in your account.
• The app uses your device location, only with your permission, to show nearby places and send local event alerts.
• You control location access in your device settings and can turn it on or off anytime.
• You can turn notifications off anytime.

7. Signing up through an AI assistant

An AI assistant can start a signup on your behalf, but you must approve it and pay yourself on Stripe's secure page. We never accept card details from AI assistants or other software. You're responsible for signups you approve.

8. Your pets

Telling us about your pets is optional. We use the number of pets members list only for our "Pets helped" counter, which shows a total and never shows individual details. Pet names are never made public.

9. Keeping your account secure

Your member codes, links and any member token are for you. Keep them private and don't share them publicly. If you think someone else is using them, let us know.

10. Fair use

Please don't misuse the membership. That means no sharing codes publicly, no reselling benefits, no automated abuse of our site or API, and nothing unlawful. We may suspend or end a membership that's used this way. Board listings are checked, reported and removed as described in our moderation policy.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change matters, we'll let members know before it takes effect and update the date above. If you keep your membership after that, you accept the new terms.

12. Disclaimer and liability

Our guides, recipes and directory are general information, not veterinary advice. Always ask your vet about your pet's health. We provide the membership "as is". To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the last 3 months. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer protection law.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
